PRO STREET ART
1. How does street art positively impact a community?
There are people that come to places to see street art-like a tour. Graffiti-hunting has become a sort of tourism. People visit East London or New York’s Lower East Side and Williamsburg or, formerly, 5Pointz, just to see some of the graffiti there. "Some scholars have questioned whether we should consider graffiti criminal damage if in fact, it’s a Banksy piece that’s worth $100,000—if you can somehow get it off the wall," Douglas says.http://www.fastcodesign.com/3022524/can-graffiti-be-good-for-cities
2. How would a community be changed for the worse if there was no street art?
3. What should happen to street art that already exists?
we should leave it there because it takes alot of money to remove them. The city of Chicago has a budget of 6.2 million dollars a year just to remove graffiti artworks.https://goo.gl/9fSZdI
4. Should we respect street art as we would artwork in a gallery? Why or why not?
Yes because in Israel people do street art and try to change the way others think of Israel: “I’m sick to death of hearing that Israel invented the cherry tomato and the mobile phone,” says Craig Dershowitz, executive director of Artists 4 Israel. “Can Street Art Change The World?” The Tower. Web. 11 Nov. 2015. <http://www.thetower.org/article/can-street-art-change-the-world/> . There is even a place where you can draw graffiti freely in New York City but it ended until November 2014 and got demolished after that. It is called 5 Pointz and it is an open-air museum where urban artists can paint freely.“The Perverse Effect Of Street Art On Neighborhood Gentrification.”worldcrunch.com. PRO STREET ART- question 4
We should because most of the time street art is to express themselves and try to give a meaning. For example in Israel there are people that try to change the way how other people think about Israel. The artworks that are in gallery is mostly the which the government agreed to put in the artworks in public. But street art is illegal but there are people that want to draw and express themselves even though they are not officially an artist. Banky is a street art artist but banky is not his real name he hides his identity so the police do not arrest them because they do not know his identity.
